Whats On

The Abbeyfield Society has been in existence for 50 years, providing supported sheltered accommodation for elderly people in over 750 houses in the UK. Here, residents find the privacy and security they seek when managing alone in their own home becomes a burden. They come and go as they please, receive visitors and enjoy two cooked meals a day. They are free from the worries of maintaining a house and garden, paying bills and dealing with loneliness. At the centre of these homely houses are Abbeyfield house managers, who are employed to ensure that the house is comfortable and safe, and that meals are nutritious and enjoyable.

Our particular House is an elegant spacious town house built in local stone, with a charming well kept private garden to the rear, in which the residents take an interest in conjunction with our gardener. We are within easy walking distance of the centre of this ancient small town which is a tourist attraction in the summer.

The House was extended in the last 10 years and we are now able to accommodate 10 residents. Each has their own personal bed-sitting room with private bathroom facilities. We also have 2 guest rooms which can accommodate visitors as well as those needing to use our respite care facility. Our residents furnish their own rooms upon entering residency, giving them the comfort of still having their own personal possessions around them. Carpets and curtains are provided and the rooms are redecorated by the Society prior to occupancy. Each room has a small kitchenette to enable residents to make their own breakfast and entertain visitors to coffee. Two main meals are served daily in the dining room, lunch and high tea, and there are refrigerators on each floor for the residents to keep their milk and supplies fresh.
