That
Sinking Feeling A past
President
of Bradford Bowls Club
having imbibed well after a home match,
made towards the station car park,
unfortunately as he walked
along the unlit area behind the
clubhouse he fell into the River Avon,
when
recounting the episode he was quoted
as saying" I tell you what, those woods
don't float".
Welsh
Choirs In the
past it was quite common for the many
visiting Welsh sides to have a sing
song after the game and a few drinks,
sadly although we still play a few
sides from the other side of the Severn
this practice seems to have died
out.

Mervyn's
Substitution
Mervyn Uncles a past President &
Chairman of the club together with his
Father and two other club members by
the name of Jones, qualified in 1939
for the County Fours Final. However
The Second World War intervened,
he was called up before the final could
be played . During the War he
served
as a
Medical
Officer and was
responsible for prisoners of war
returning by ship after their release
from the infamous Japanese prison of
war camps. As a
result his Demob was
delayed, when the Final was subsquently
played he
was substituted and never again
reached those dizzy heights.
