Melksham Family of Churches

Covenant

Each year, members of the Melksham Family of Churches renew the covenant below at the annual Covenant Service which usually takes place in January.

We believe that through Christ,

men and women are reconciled with

God and with each other.

We are one in the Body of Christ.

We believe that God calls His people

to seek that unity which is His will.

We will go forward together

in the power of His Spirit.

We give thanks for the rich variety of our heritage

and ask that we may be strengthened

to encourage and support each other

in our work and service.

We will be true to His Word in truth and love.

As we grow to value one another’s traditions

may we be forgiven for our divisions in the past

and find new unity of purpose in the future.

We will give glory to God together

For Christ breaks down the barriers that come between us.

Therefore, we the Melksham Family of Churches

Covenant together:

We will share in our ministry,

Witness as one in the power of God’s love

And worship in unity and truth.

We pledge ourselves to sustain this Covenant

and commend it to those who come after us.

We welcome all who wish to join us in love and fellowship.

We promise that we will strive to do together

those things which we need not do separately.

Holy Spirit of God,

seal our pledge in the fire of Your love,

strengthen our resolve to keep this word.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
