Whats On

Welcome to the website for the Bradford on Avon Canal Volunteers. We are an enthusiastic bunch of people - men and women of all ages - who help to look after the towpaths and land adjacent to the Kennet and Avon Canal near Bradford on Avon. Our "patch" stretches from Semington through to Bath top lock.

We come under the auspices of the Canal and River Trust (CRT), and have our "headquarters" in the Stables just next to the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust tea rooms at the Upper Wharf in Bradford on Avon, right next to the locks (see the photo above). Also, have a look at the map on the Useful Documents page.

We are always looking for new volunteers - so if you're interested, contact CRT directly (see the Useful Links page), or for more general information about the BoA group use the contact address below. We work most weekdays, and you can always drop in if you're wandering past on the wharf. You'll recognise us by our hi- visibility "Volunteer" vests or our blue "Volunteer" polo/sweat shirts.

If you want to volunteer, you can work as much or as little as you want during the week. A full working day is from 09.30 to 15.00 or so, but half days or less is fine with us too - and you can pick the day or days you'd like to volunteer on.

There is a number of tasks/projects coming up where you might have specific skills and knowledge that will help. Please have a look at the Recruitment page.

We gratefully acknowledge the extremely generous donation of £2500 from the Bradford on Avon Secret Gardens garden owners and organisers.
This donation is to recognise the dedicated efforts of the Canal & River Trust group of Canal Volunteers in maintaining the historic structures such as the Hen's Orchard walls.
