Formal twinning visits are arranged on a three year cycle. German visitors who come to Bradford on Avon in one summer, are followed by a return trip of Wiltshire visitors going to Norden in the next summer. The final year in this cycle is a 'gap year' when both towns can start preparing for the next set of visits.
Individual Twinning members can obviously arrange extra private trips. School exchanges are also encouraged, together with visits involving local clubs, societies and associations. For example Opera Piccola from Bradford on Avon have performed successfully in Norden (as well as making a joint visit with our German Twinning Association).
Every year Bradford on Avon German Twinning aims to arrange a stimulating programme of local events (particularly for members). It’s good to include some German aspects – such as a Frisian tea party and a German film – but we usually end the year with a traditional
British Christmas Lunch!
