Spitfire Excavation

The Codford Spitfire piloted by American Lt Robert P. Humphrey crashed on 6th November 1943. The pilot parachuted out of the planet 7,000 ft above Codford and the plane went down into a hillside at Knook.The excavation took place on 10th September 2005.
