Broadband Action Group

The Upper Deverills Parish Council received requests for help from residents who have been refused broadband service or find the service when provided, unreliable and/or slow. In mid- January 2009 the UDPC set up a Broadband Action Group to quantify such problems, investigate common causes and try to address them. The Parish Council representative is Robin Greenwood and other members are local residents Richard Kitson, Albert Lee and Richard Monro. The BAG considered its initial task was to develop a survey. This went to 150 houses in the Parish during February and received a response from over 50% of those homes that had broadband. The results of the survey have now been analysed into a Word document and an Excel spread sheet and both are associated with this introduction. The results were passed to the South West Regional office of BT requesting that they study our findings and come back to BAG with proposals to address the issues identified by the end of March. The UDPC also passed the findings to the Dept BERR Carter office, which is preparing a plan for Digital Britain and is seeking input from individuals and communities with concerns about broadband and other digital services.
